McLaren, the supercar manufacturer, has added to its Super Sports Series a newcomer: the 2018 McLaren 570S Spider, besides the hot-selling 570S Coupe. The topless version features a metal hardtop which by a simple push on a button can be opened/closed in 15 seconds. An optional sports system features an ESG to channel exhaust sound towards the cabin to deliver an authentic supercar experience. And what makes the Spider even more irresistible is its starting price of $208,800 which makes it a relatively affordable supercar.
The McLaren weighs only 40 kgs more, however does not make any compromise regarding performance. The 570S Spider is fitted with a 3.8 twin turbocharged V8 engine plus a 7 speed transmission enabling quick shiftings flies to 100 km/h mph in just 3.2 seconds. It reaches a maximum speed of 328 km/h with the roof closed and 315 km/h with the top down. Its lightweight carbon fiber MonoCell II chassis ensures strength and dynamic performance. Like his coupe sibling, this McLaren convertible supercar has three driving modes: Normal, Sport and Track, carbon-ceramic brakes, adaptive suspensions and the same stability control system.
Among the slight differences, the Spider has a taller rear-spoiler and three new exterior colours (two hues of blue and yellow) have been added to the palette now composed of 20 different colours. An optional 10 wheel-spoke wheel is available.
The first 2018 McLaren 570S Spider are expected for delivery in next August.
