McLaren has released teasers of the prototype of its new supercar, the McLaren P14 which is meant to replace the 650S and is twice as efficient as its predecessor. The new model will apparently be called 720S as a reference to its engine horsepower (bhp). This 2 seat supercar targets its closest rival, the Ferrari 488 GTB which packs “only” 661 bhp.

The German tuner, AC Schnitzer has been cutting and stitching changes all over the Mini John Cooper Works to admirable effect. Most noticeably in the increase of power which has been tuned from 223hp to 261hp. This top of the line model has not been the subject of all the attention either, as other more standard models have also seen an increase in power, the Mini Cooper has gone from 134 hp to 168 hp, while the S model started at 189hp and now boasts 232 hp.

The LaFerrari has pulled off its top and to be quite frank, I think you could fairly say that we are all enjoying the view. The Laferrari convertible retains all its highly covetous supercar looks of the LaFerrari, Ferrari’s only electric hybrid. However, this open top is targeted towards previous clients and collectors who just don’t want to have to compromise, you know, by having to choose between a convertible or a supercar. Oh these decisions make life so difficult!

The release of sales results last month record that the top selling sports car in Germany is not the Porsche 911, like all of us would have thought, but rather the Ford Mustang. We heard the rumours and then the plans, that a pure electric supercar would be available for the masses, but it was only last Thursday that we saw the car. Not as fast as the Model S’s “Ludicrous Speed”, it is still likely to keep the plebs happy as it races from 0 to 60 in less than 6 seconds. Yet, ultimately the race to place an order is due to the happy “family meal value” price that starts at $35,000.

“Breaking New Dimensions” the Bugatti Chiron has just been unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, dropping jaws as its racing figures were released. Constructed with a redeveloped 8.0-litre, quad-turbo W16 engine, that produces power at 1,479bhp and 1,600Nm of torque when at 2,000rpm. This supercar comes with a speedometer that caps a maximum speed of 500 km/h, and that is not due to fanciful thinking either.

The 2016 Toyota Mirai is now available for sale to a select few customers i.e. people who happen to live in California. The rest of the world will have to patiently wait. The question of whether it gets to the rest of us though, may well determine the success of the Mirai. Bentley AG have reported that their fastest car, the GT Speed is capable of reaching a top speed of 329 kilometers an hour, certainly no small feat. The luxury Italian car manufacturer, Ferrari intends to list on the US stock market. In an initial public offering the company has been valued at $9.8 billion, where individual share price would range between $48 and $52. The decision to float the company on the US stock market has been made by Ferrari’s parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). Whereby they intend to sell up to 10% of Ferrari on the IPO in order to use the proceeds towards developing an ambitious turnaround plan that will boost the company’s global sales to 7 million cars by 2018.

Lexus unveils its one-of-a-kind origami-inspired car at the Grand Designs Live home improvement show. Using 1,700 fully recyclable, laser-cut cardboard sheets, a team of experts and designers took the art of origami to a whole new level. Lexus’ origami car is a replica of the IS sedan and has a fitted interior, functioning doors, headlights and wheels all made from cardboard and an electric motor that makes the vehicle fully driveable.

The F-Pace, Jaguar’s first ever SUV is set to premier at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show coming up this September 17th to the 27th in honour of the brand’s 80th anniversary. In Hong Kong, the city that arguably loves the pure electric car more than anywhere else, Tesla Motors is seeing a steady rise in sales for its entire production line, most notable in the recent launch of the Model S P85D. Before Tesla entered the market there were less than 600 electric vehicles (EV) in Hong Kong. Rumour and hearsay that had been leaked from Lamborghini, has just recently been confirmed at The Quail, a MotorSport gathering event in Monterey where the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce Roadster had its debut in all its eminent beauty. This convertible is engineered and constructed on almost identical terms to its forerunner in the coupe, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV.
