There is the Phantom and the Ghost, but now there is the silent and deadly Rolls Royce, in the form of the Dawn Convertible. This latest model shares all the pedigree of the luxury automaker’s lineup and is remarkably only the third convertible, that Rolls Royce has produced in 50 years. In utterly unique fashion the Dawn offers all the best of open-top motoring, with all the exquisite driving dynamics, that famously sets the prestigious house of Rolls Royce apart from the rest.
Made from quality materials that are intricately hand stitched into the car, there is a discernible sense of elegance and quality, not normally found in other luxury vehicles. On the press of a button the fabric roof will automatically collapse itself into the rear compartment. Taking just 22 seconds to raise or lower whilst driving up to speeds of 50 km/h.
Yet despite the elegance of the vehicle it is the silent glide of movement that makes the Dawn so strikingly unique. Housing nothing less than a 6.6L V12 engine under its bonnet that produces 563 hp, the Dawn picks up its acceleration in an eery silence, especially when the roof is closed, and races to its maximum speed of 250 km/h in just a monotone hum.
But in case the effect of 2.8 tons moving to the sound of nothing is not enough to impress you, the Dawn also holds a suit of technology that is undeniably exciting. The eight speed ZF automatic transmission uses satellite-guided software to predetermine the most appropriate gear in which to drive, in a precise anticipation of the road ahead. In remarkable fashion, the Dawn convertible guarantees the smoothest and most comfortable driving experience possible.
Indeed with the Dawn the skies are the limit... both figuratively and literally.
