Redefining the meaning of hotel luxury is the “Abraj Kudai” in Mecca, Saudi Arabia’s holiest city. The exceptionally extravagant hotel plans to be the world’s largest in the world with over 12 towers that between them will have 10,000 rooms and more than 70 restaurants.
The hotel is to be owned by the Ministry of Finance who will be footing the $3.5 billion construction bill. While initial plans were for the hotel to be completed in 2017 in time to house international Muslim visitors for the annual Hajj, the completion date has been delayed until 2018 due to national economic issues.
With an equivalent square meter size and offering similar amenities to that of a large town, the only ostensible difference is that this town is entirely 4 star, with some suites being stamped an exclusive 5 star status. The complex occupies 1.4 million square meters, of which five of those floors will be dedicated to the sole use of the Saudi Royal family. Those financially well endowed guests will be able to make use of the conveniently placed helipads that are planned to be located atop sections of the towered roofs.
Come 2018, one ticket to Saudi Arabia and just a purse full of gold is all it will take for one of these lofty and extravagantly decked out pads to be yours for the night.
