In a collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing, the concept car of the AM-RB 001 has been revealed in all its sci-fi-video-game-worthy greatness. It has been advised that the supercar will host a range of state-of-the-art automotive technologies, but, as to whether its future lies on the race track or the urban road is still undecided. What is certain, is that whichever path is chosen, it is likely to inspire other supercars that will come in its wake.
The makers of this model make the highly ambitious claim that the AM-RB 001 is to be the fastest street legal car in the world. Possibly in effect creating a whole new category of car around itself as it will be beyond the league of super cars and even hypercars.
Not many of the specific details are yet known about the car, other than its extra-ordinary spacecraft looks. The passenger compartment will be quite small, there is signifcant innovative use of carbon fiber materials and it will have a “keel” that runs the length beneath the car. The aerodynamics of the car is emphasised in its body work, which confronts the air with gliding surfaces. But for any more information than that, we’ll have to wait until the end of 2018 when it is likely to be produced in a highly limited number of just 100 models. Even than, those 100 units will be split between two variants of a racing model for track only purposes and another fully street legal model for urban roads.
