Tesla is releasing the new Roadster supercar in 2020. It will feature a 0-60 mph time of just 1.9 seconds making it the quickest car in the world. On top of that, there will be another special option package that could push this time even lower.
Tesla has made the announcement that the new Roadster will be available starting in 2020. Not only does this car fly to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds, but it is the fastest-accelerating production vehicle ever. The all-electric supercar will maximize the potential of aerodynamics to help improve efficiency and performance capability.
It is the quickest car in the world and sets records in range, performance and acceleration. That’s not enough for Tesla! They are also going to be offering a special option package which is going to push the boundary further.
While it’s not public knowledge yet what this package is going to entail, we can assume it’s going to be crazy. For example, in 2014 Tesla introduced the P85D with an insane mode. This allowed it to reach 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Then, just a year later, Tesla released the P90D with a ludicrous mode which dropped that time to 2.8 seconds. Since then, the time has been taken even further down to just 2.3 seconds with the SP100D.
Does this mean we can expect to see acceleration times under 1.5 seconds? We just don't know yet, but one thing is clear - this electric supercar is going to offer some terrifying and heart-stopping performance the world might not be ready for. It’s going to effectively blow the typical sports cars out of the competition.
Some of the other selling features are going to include seating for four which is an amazing feat for a supercar. In addition, it will have a glass roof that is lightweight and removable. This roof stores inside of the trunk for an open-air driving experience; if you can handle that speed with the top down.
