A Dongle is no longer the sound of a bell, it’s the latest in a long line up of car gadgets that are being launched in the lead up towards a fully integrated IOT vehicle. But the best part is, you don’t have to buy a brand spanking new car in order to be in the front seat of enjoying this new technology. At the Mobile World Conference that is currently being held in Barcelona, Samsung just released its dongle. And by that, we are not referring to the company kitten’s favourite toy, but a highly nifty piece of technology that provides internet connectivity in cars.
The Dongle provides LTE connectivity in all vehicles with an OBD II diagnostic port , which is typically found in most cars built in the last two decades. This new feature allows cars to be located and lets drivers to monitor their car’s performance, but perhaps more useful to most of us, it also acts as a Wi-Fi hotspot that will connect to other devices in the car.
The device which will have LTE speeds, is expected to be available some time during the second quarter of this year. At this stage only AT&T will be a carrier to offer auto connectivity to clients in the US.
For Samsung launching, the launching of the device represented a huge achievement that they were proud to share. According to its representative "Samsung Electronics is helping drivers embark on a new journey through its ground-breaking connected car solution, Samsung Connect Auto. Providing benefits to consumers and businesses alike, Samsung is delivering an ecosystem of services and products to enable a safer, more eco-friendly and a more fun driving experience."
