Mercedes has introduced us to its newest production model – the AMG GT4 Coupe. While this vehicle has yet to be released, you can expect it to rival the popular Porsche Panamera and the BMW M Gran Coupe in the near future.
This four-door model follows the likes of the SLS Coupe making it the fifth Mercedes AMG dedicated model. It also features the fastback-style tailgate just like the existing GT Coupe. The Mercedes AMG GT4 is going to be offered with the choice of two gas engines. The first is the newest 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine from Mercedes with 429 horsepower and a mild-hybrid setup with the GT53 4Matic+. The other engine choice is the AMG 4.0-liter V8. They all have a four-wheel drive system along with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Despite all the similarities between the E-Class and CLS, there are some unique distinctions as well. For example, the AMG GT4 has a larger engine bay. With the GT53 4Matic+, there is also a 48V electrical system used to operate the electric motor. While this power enhances the performance during the use of the electric boost function, it cannot propel the car on electric power alone like the hybrid EQ power system.
At the lowest end of the models, the 0-60mph time of the GT53 4Matic+ is 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 177 mph. The higher end GT63 S 4Matic+ is capable of running a 0-60mph time of 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph. These numbers make it the fastest four-seater that has even worn the AMG label.
