With rich grained wood and supple leathers the Mercedes E300 is renowned for its luxury features, but the latest 2017 model that is set to be released is a healthy reminder that Mercedes is keeping strides to maintain its reputation of being at the forefront of technology as well.

The E300 is pumped with technology, far beyond the adaptive cruise control that they came out with in 1998. This is some really avant garde and exciting stuff. With a boost of power that is derived from the 241 horsepower and 273 pounds of torque, Mercedes has not neglected to consider what this gravitational force may entail for passengers, therefore when the car rounds a corner, the sides of the front passenger chairs expand to keep your tush from sliding in your seat. Yet in the inverse situation, where the car is about to collide, the Pre-Safe Impulse Side system is triggered, whereby these same side bolsters will push passengers 2.75 inches away from the car’s perimeter, and further away from impact. So while it sounds like a novel idea at first, its flexibility certainly adds a glean of greater significance.
Some other highly admirable features include a cruise control car tracking feature that can follow a vehicle in front of it at a predetermined distance. Named Distronic, like other technology developed by Mercedes it is given extra pizzazz, as it can do this at speeds that exceed 190 km/h.
Yet the E300 boasts a range of other semi autonomous features such as Steering pilot, which helps to keep the car in its lane. The Lane change assist feature gives you the thumbs up to change lanes if the coast is clear, a nifty tool that we found to work entirely on cue. Though Mercedes themselves recommends that it is still wise to have both hands firmly planted on the steering wheel - just in case.
Should things go haywire, a unique piece of technology called the “Pre-Safe Sound” is also installed. On the detection of imminent collision the car plays a “pink noise”, a noise that collision experts say reduce hearing damage as it remedies your ears for the sound of a collision and should prevent you from hearing a ringing noise afterwards.
With all these features and more found in the newest Mercedes E300, rest assured that its increased functional safety and practicality has not in anyway infringed upon its many much appreciated frilly finishings. By all means you can still take a seat and snuggle back in the soft and supple leather upholstered seats.
