“Breaking New Dimensions” the Bugatti Chiron has just been unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, dropping jaws as its racing figures were released. Constructed with a redeveloped 8.0-litre, quad-turbo W16 engine, that produces power at 1,479bhp and 1,600Nm of torque when at 2,000rpm. This supercar comes with a speedometer that caps a maximum speed of 500 km/h, and that is not due to fanciful thinking either.
President of Bugatti Automobiles, Wolfgang Dürheimer, claims not too modestly that the Bugatti Automotive team has “made the best, even better”. Yet despite the tautology of this statement many believe it, while those who can afford it - are buying it. Infact when you consider it to be the “world’s most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car” ever built, the $2.7 million price tag, can seem arguably reasonable. Certainly an opinion held by the crowds of customers in Geneva who are already queuing up with their deposits ready.
The concept behind the Chiron is the idea that “Form follows Performance”. What this practically means still eludes most people, but from what the Bugatti website has explained, the styling of the supercar was set to accentuate the performance aspects. This means characteristic features such as the long and broad surfaces are emphasised with dramatic demarcations. Yet this conceptual framework, is not all about looking like it’s from the future, but actually being from the future. The styling has entailed that all the Chiron’s features have a technological basis that actually make this beast go faster, quicker. But with only 360 models due to roll off the production line internationally, you better be the one to act fast, if you ever intend to put your foot down on this car’s accelerator.
