The Porsche Mission E - Turning Mission: Impossible into reality

Aug 01, 2016

With much certainty we can tell you that the ‘E’ in the Porsche Mission E, does not stand for Mission Impossible. Aside from the obvious reasons, this is a car that is about to bring technology, that we had previously only ever dreamed about into reality. Initially unveiled last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show as Porsche’s only pure electric vehicle, it had large expectations to fill. Yet, with recent information released by Porsche, the Mission E is not only meeting those expectations, it is knocking them over head on. The engineering configuration of the Mission E includes two motors, with an advanced lithium-ion battery that lines the length of the car. This powertrain produces the equivalent of 600 horsepower and allows this all-wheel-drive sports car to reach a maximum speed of 241 km/h.

But the real draw card to the Porsche Mission E, is the innovative tech that it is expected to flaunt. Innovations include the use of inductive charging, where the car will simply recharge by driving over a base plate that is positioned in the ground that will transmit electromagnetic energy into the car’s battery resources. Furthermore, the car will have no need for rear vision mirrors as built-in cameras will capture the full circumference of the car and project it on to a display at a lower corner of the windshield.

Still not utterly impressed? Well should you wish to utilise an instrument on the dashboard, there will be no need to extend a finger as cameras will track your pupil’s line of sight, identify what you are looking at and thereby select that instrument for you. The driver will then confirm the selection of that instrument by touching a button on the steering wheel.

Crammed with heaps more features on offer you can read more about the Porsche Mission E with our feature article in Luxuria Magazine.
