The Audi R8 to Hit the Roads Racing in 2016

This year’s Geneva Motor Show lifted the silk curtain off the newest edition of the Audi R8, which is planned to hit the roads racing in Spring 2016. The remarkable car has been revised from its predecessor into a V10 mid engine that’s faster, includes Audi’s trademark quattro drive, has LED headlights that apply a sensor technology, and a smarter design. That all combined deliver a more exciting drive.

The R8 is now available in both a V8 and the top-of-the-range version V10. Not surprisingly, it’s the V10 that has really drawn the crowds in closer. The remarkable supercar has been redesigned to be lighter, as it is comprised of more carbon fiber, rather than aluminium and go faster as it has been gifted 610 hp. Making the R8 capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds whilst able to reach a top speed of 330 km/h.

The updated Audi R8 sports LED headlights with a laser option, this allows for the lights to automatically drop down when cars are approaching from the opposite direction. With a link up to sat-nav, the headlights are also able to turn, so that they illuminate bends in advance for enhanced night vision. The screen directly in front of the driver displays all the available data in a “virtual cockpit”. Drivers are free to design their own screens, allowing them to select the type of display and emphasize all the data that they would like shown to them in a drive, such as navigation, infotainment options and the car’s fuel consumption, to name just a few examples.

While the appearance of the R8 is not all that dissimilar from its predecessor with its characteristic side blades, it still certainly comes off looking sleeker with an emphasis on a flat and wide muscular build. Audi wisely chose to keep the glass panel over the engine, so it is possible to take a glance at the genius of its mechanics from the outside.

All in all, Audi has done very well on the new R8. It certainly comes as testament to the motorsport world that Audi is most certainly still in the game, with a spearhead that just got even sharper.
