The new Mercedes AMG GLC-63 4Matic Sedan and Coupe

Mercedes comes up with a new GLC full-size SUV, the AMG GLC-63 4Matic and its coupe version which are powered by a 4L V8 twin turbocharged engine. The new GLC is meant to be the direct rival of the Porsche Macan Turbo, BMW X4 M4 01 and on a lesser level of the Audi Q5, Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F-Pace. Currently, the Mercedes AMG GLC is the only compact SUV to be dotted with a V8 engine.

In terms of exterior design, both GLC models retain the same muscular looks enhanced by the Panamericana grille (previously reserved for AMG GT models) incorporated in the front bumper. They also include wider AMG wheel arches, a wide front apron, flared fenders and quad exhaust outlets as well as V8 badges on the car’s sides. The interior features an aluminium dashboard, a flat bottom steering wheel, AMG sport seats, microsuede and aluminium trim, AMG specific instruments and all the upgrades showing on the Mercedes C63 4Matic.

In addition to the AMG’s latest four-wheel drive system ensuring optimal traction, the GLC C63 has another novelty: the exclusive 9-speed AMG SpeedShift multi-clutch transmission which generates optimized and quicker response when the driver presses the accelerator. The Dynamic Select System provides four driving modes: Comfort, Eco, Sport and Sport Plus and even a fifth mode “The Race Mode” on the “S” model.

As expected the V8 Mercedes AMG GLC-63 is a very powerful machine, reaching the 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with a limited top speed of 249 km/h. By comparison, the Porsche Macan Turbo boasts a time of 4.4 seconds for the 0-100 km/h while the BMW X3 M01 announces 3.9 seconds.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4Matic+ the Coupe version will be officially presented at the New York Show (April 14-23, 2017) and the sales will start in June 2017. The expected price for the GLC SUV is  £64,00 while the Coupe should cost £56,000.
