This past Friday, the Crewe, Bentley’s England based manufacturer, advised that while the Bentayga may well be the most expensive SUV to hit the market, it will also be the fastest.
Constructed with a 12 cylinder engine, this SUV will dominate the roads, most likely in size, but most definitely in speed. The Bentayga has achieved a top speed record of 301 km/h, that is 17 km/h faster that the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, a whole 51 km/h faster than a Range Rover, which are built to similar size proportions and 21 km/h faster that the Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 S AMG. The sum total holds quite the intimidating prospect for other 4WDs on the road.
The Bentayga is expected to be formally launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month. The results for the SUV’s top record speeds were released in a string of snippets about the car, in order to drum up interest as the automotive world head towards the Bentayga’s unveiling in Frankfurt.
The build-up of interest will ultimately have to justify the hefty price tag that comes with the sale of each model. The ultra luxury Bentley Bentayga will set customers back by 180,000€ or if it’s more convenient $200,000 USD. Volkswagon AG, the parent body of the luxury brand, anticipate that the inclusion of the Bentayga into its model range will boost sales of models up to 15,000 per annum from where it was standing at 11,020 last year.
Of particular interest to the marque will be China and other emerging economies. These locations are riddled with rough and unpaved roads, yet also have pockets of extremely rich potential clients who may well be interested in a highly posh SUV, rather than a low riding sportscar.
