Travel planning startup Bucket took yesterday its first stab at international itineraries.
This past August, Bucket launched its open beta version to help travelers create their own personalized trip plan by parsing free form text from any source (online or from friends, say, on a Facebook post) and gathering it onto a single application.
Bucket founders came up with the idea after looking at how people plan trips. They would open a bunch of different tabs on Google and start copying and pasting ideas onto a Word document. They would ask their friends on Facebook about hotels, restaurants, car rentals or activities in a certain city and scroll through the comments and paste them onto what would result in an inefficient way of gathering and organizing this information to actually make it useful. Bucket solves the tedious and logistical side of trip planning. Bucket aggregates all the information gathered from say Tripadvisor, Foursquare, Facebook Places, Airbnb, etc, keep the information in context and add in any additional relevant information such as pictures, ratings and reviews to help you plan your trip in a more efficient and organized way.
Say you are traveling to Paris and found a hotel recommendation on Conde Nast, a friend recommended a great restaurant for you on Facebook and you found a great deal on a luxury car rental. Gather it all in Bucket and plan a trip that is accessible from any device.
Bucket focuses on Millennial travellers. Millennials are a majority in the travel segment with a high demand of easy, real time, mobile and social experiences, which Bucket provides.
By parsing free form text from any text source and on any device to create a personalized trip plan, Bucket promises to innovate and revolutionize the travel space.
