Jaguar’s first ever SUV to bow at the Frankfurt Motor Show

In celebration of Jaguar’s 80th anniversary, the F-Pace, the brand’s first ever SUV, will premier at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show coming up this September 17th to the 27th.

With the SUV market expected to generate 20 million sales worldwide by 2020, even those who convulse at the thought of a Jaguar 4X4 can’t deny that Jaguar’s move makes absolute economic sense.

A bit ahead of its official debut next week, Jaguar has given us a little teaser unveiling the vehicle in final production form. The F-Pace is the production vehicle modeled after the C-X17 concept car and it’s not so much an SUV as it is a  "performance crossover", or even the "ultimate practical sports car".

The five-seater looks a lot like a jacked-up version of the Jaguar F-Type sports car, even down to having an almost identical rear light treatment and a subtle curve over the rear wheel arch. The chassis construction is the same aluminum constitution of all the other 2015 new Jaguars, the XE and XF, which promotes lightness, agility and efficiency, so the F-Pace is expected to have equally stimulating dynamics. The new crossover will use the same engine as the Jaguar saloons, including a fast and clean 3.0 liter twin-turbo diesel, making it handle more like a sports car than a truck. As a sister brand to Land Rover, Jaguar has surely tapped into a heap of off-road technology.

The new Jaguar F-Pace is expected to go on sale worldwide starting in 2016.
