Atlanta - This month marks a pinnacle for Porsche Cars North America as they opened up their new $100 million headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
In truth, the building comprises far more than just the company’s headquarters in the USA, as it also includes the Porsche Experience Center (PEC). A not-so-meagre 27 acre complex that is complete with a driver development track, restoration center, classic car gallery, driving simulator lab, human performance center and a fine dining restaurant. Not even exhausting the list yet, the center also comprises industry-first facilities that include a conference and event center. The design was made specifically with the intention to benefit of the public, from your everyday automotive enthusiast to deep-pocketed Porsche customers.
It is anticipated that the center will see 30,000 guests walk through its entrance hall ways every year to enjoy the entertainment features on offer. Of particular interest is the 1.6 mile, or 2.5 kilometer, Driver Development Track where visitors can test their driving skills. The track runs through the center’s courtyard and includes 6 driving modules all led by an instructor; the Handling Circuit, Off Road Course, Dynamics Area, Low Friction Handling Circuit, Low Friction Circle and a Kick Plate - the only one in the USA. All modules demonstrate the technological and engineering prowess of the Porsche.
The inspiration for Porsche’s new home in America was to create something bold and energizing that ultimately reflects the greatness of a Porsche sportscar. Detlev von Platen, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America commented that “The experience center coupled with our headquarters, is truly the first of its kind in the automotive industry where we welcome employees, partners, customers and enthusiasts alike”.
