The All New 2016 Volvo CX90 SUV Hits the Mark of Luxury and Style

Sep 21, 2015

Volvo has always been about modesty, and while the CX90 may not scream to the world you have made it, your level of smugness will be through the roof as you feel virtually immortal in one of the safest SUVs on the road. Volvo is undoubtedly synonymous with safety, since it invented the first seatbelt in 1959 and left the patent open for other manufacturers to install the device in their vehicles, in an act of pure corporate altruism. Since then, Volvo has strived to make the safest vehicles on the planet and has stated that no one will die in any of its cars by 2020. The CX90 is a step in the right direction, offering a hyper-aware safety kit encased in an unburstable bubble of passive protection.

The seven-seater luxury crossover comes fitted with the T6 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that fires to life with the twist of a knob. Considering that the CX90 weighs between 4600 and 5200 pounds, Volvo has installed a turbocharger and a supercharger that inflate the engine’s peak power for a total output of 316 horsepower and a 0-60 run in the low six seconds. A no-compromise upgrade is available on the CX90, with the uplevel T8 Twin Engine, a plug-in hybrid that makes 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque and earns a 59-MPGe combined rating from the EPA, by accommodating a 9.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack in the central tunnel.

The CX90 is Volvo’s first model built using its new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). Some of its most relevant features are a panoramic sunroof, passive entry, four-zone automatic climate control, lane-departure warning, forward-collision alert, rear park assist, heavenly comfortable 10-way power-adjustable front seats wrapped in real leather and the new Sensus infotainment system, a touchscreen that is as close to having a factory-installed iPad in the dashboard without buying a Tesla Model S

The new Volvo Cx90 will come at a price of $55,000.
