Set off from Glasgow to the Old Town in Edinburgh where the Edinburgh Castle, a magnificent royal fortress, dominates the skyline from a hill above the city.

Visit the Abbey and Palace of Holyroodhouse, containing a collection of art from the Royal Collection. Edinburgh is known for its museums. See the National Museum of Scotland with the famous Millennium Clock. Visit the National War Museum and the National Gallery of Scotland.

Then relax in the Royal Botanic Garden before having lunch at the stunning Michelin-starred Castle Terrace.

After lunch it is off to Princes Street in New Town for some designer shopping. Then discover Cockburn Street with many quirky alternative shops.

Settle down for an evening of traditional folk music at one of the pubs in the Old Town.
