Continue to the medieval St Albans Clock Tower, erected between 1403 and 1412. Discover the clock keeper’s living room and see the Victorian clock which was designed by Lord Grimthorpe. The fourth floor houses the spectacular one ton original bell itself.
Don’t miss the lovely stretch of greenery in the enormous Verulamium Park south of the city centre. Flowing on one side is the River Ver and in the middle there is a beautiful lake. Take a stroll through the Orchard and settle down at the Fighting Cocks pub, the oldest pub in the UK, for a glass of beer. Then visit the St Albans colorful market with over 160 stalls. Take your choice, they offer everything from fancy goods, healing crystals and fresh herbs to fish.
History lovers must see the Museum of St Albans. It showcases the story of the city from the time of the Romans to the present day. Be enchanted at the Organ Museum which exhibits theatre organs, punch-card café organs and other instruments. See and hear these amazing instruments.
