A White Christmas on Bavaria’s Snowscapes

Nov 19, 2015

Winter in Bavaria is any romantic’s paradise amidst wondrous snow laden scenery. With no lack of options on what to do, go skiing to your heart’s content, spin down hill on a toboggan ride or hike through spruce and fir trees. Revitalise and rejuvenate at one of the many wellness centers where many highly crafted and exotic treatments are available. Of course there is no holiday without the culinary highlights, and Bavaria shows off the best of its local talent over Christmas time. Whether you’re going for a family holiday, as a romantic weekend away or just a much needed vacation with friends there is so much to do, feel and experience on these beautiful Bavarian icescapes.

Skiing

Winter fun in Bavaria is always first and foremost about the skiing. On your arrival at Munich Airport have the BMW X6 waiting for you so you can hit the ski slopes as quickly as possible. With this SUV’s turbo V8 engine, the BMW X6 rental is a high-performance Sports Activity coupé that never fails to deliver. Bavaria’s many ski resorts, have excellent snow slopes that are conducive to every level of skill and capability. Whether you are an advanced skier and want to try out those jumps and spins or whether you’re a beginner and would prefer to take things a little more cautiously, there are well serviced pistes for every preference.

We recommend trying out Fichtelgebirge, where it’s pretty much snow season all year long. With 27 slopes all at varying lengths, they lend themselves well to different skill levels. Most of the slopes are floodlit with lifts. There are ski courses offered to beginners, where friendly trainers will help you (and your kids) find your feet in just a short time. Not all centered on just the skiing, kids can have blast as they take rides on an old fashion bob sleigh, while there’s ice curling for adults who are really still kids at heart.

Winter Sports

There are so many great options for winter sport activities from cross country skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing and ice climbing to snow-kiting, speed skating and winter hiking. The first drops of snow, seem to be all the incentive necessary to get people out on to the slopes. For the thrill of adventure, we recommend hiring the BMW X6 for all its athletic capability to match the occasion. The X6 Sports Activity Coupé majestically combines the power of the BMW X series with the elegance of the 6-series coupés. Delivering a ride that is altogether adventurous and remarkably refined.

Thus, without actually having to snap on a pair of skis at any point there are a great variety of winter sports to choose from. Get your adrenalin kick in a bobsled as you can race down an ice canal at over 120 km/h. Snowkiting is another exciting option as you fly through the air suspended from a kite. A jump on your snowboard will launch you off the ground as you get carried off by the breeze. Consider staying the night in the Igloo village of Bayerwald or know what it means to say that you’ve traveled in a piste groomer??

Family Holiday

A winter family holiday on the Bavarian Alps is a great way to bond as you snuggle up together drinking hot chocolate, snugly tucked into wooly blankets. Comfortably seating 7, hire the BMW X5M for the occasion. This luxury BMW leads the way in the compact SUV segment, as the 4x4 tackles all terrain with power and finesse, whilst passengers are kept remarkably safe and comfortable.

No less, a kids paradise | www.bavaria.by/winter-bavariaFor the little tykes make sure to visit Kinderhotel Oberjoch, with over twenty kindergarten workers in house, you can be rest assured that your kids will be taken care of while you hit the slopes. In fact, with a huge indoor play area, ice rink, go-karting track, gym hall, bowling alley, cinema and theatre, your do run the risk of your kids never wanting to leave. Water babies can splash about in the "Farm" pool, while the older lot can take the 128 meter water slide. It’s often getting them out of the place that becomes the challenge. For your teenagers who love their sport, make sure to visit Burton Snowpark on Lake Spitzingsee, for excellent snowboarding challenges and built in installations of kickers, rails and boxes.  For those in the know, it’s one of the best and most happening snowboarding scenes in Germany.

Winter Wellness

For a few days moratorium to relax and unwind from your normally busy and hectic schedule, Bavaria’s snow slopes make the perfect location to recharge your batteries. Hire the BMW X4 from Munich and enjoy all the driving pleasure that comes from combining the power of an impressive 4x4 with the luxury of a coupé. As you drive into the heart of Bavaria, it won’t take you long to realise they the BMW X4 is one of the most desirable crossover SUVs on the road.

The Bad Füssing spas are another wonderful option at the foot of the mountains. Enjoy a clear and breathtaking panorama as you soak your body in one of the many healing pools.
