Monaco to Villefranche-sur-Mer
Villefranche-sur-Mer is a scenic drive, 20km away from Monaco, along the glorious southern coastline. This seaside resort has retained a charm and ambience of its own, very different from the glitz and glam of Monaco.
Take delivery of your Mini Cooper and set off for a day of fun in the sun. The town lies on the shores of the Bay of Villefranche, a picture-postcard setting. On one side you have endless golden sandy beaches and the sparkling azure sea, on the other, lush, rolling green hills.
Stop at the port and enjoy a cruise on the bay sipping champagne and eating oysters. When you get back to shore, drive to the Citadelle Saint-Elme. This historical Fort was built in the 16th century by the Duke of Savoy. Don’t miss the fascinating museum. Drive down to the beach and spend time soaking up the sun. Then set off to the waterfront to the famous La Mère Germaine Villefranche-sur-Mer. Its bouillabaisse dish is regarded as one of the best in the South of France. Enjoy the view and the ambience.
Take a slow drive back to Monaco to the luxurious Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. It is one of the finest palace hotels in the world, with breathtaking views over the harbour.
Monaco to Menton

Drive around and snap some photos of the pastel-coloured buildings that line the busy port. Visit the museum dedicated to the great film director Jean Cocteau. Menton is famous for lemons and sipping a lemon drink at a dockside café is a must. If you visit in February, you can take part in the famous Lemon Festival.
Spend the afternoon on the beach, soaking up the sun and people-watching. For a late lunch, drive to Cote Sud. near the port. It is ideal for a family, with a laid-back vibe, great pizzas, and delicious plates of calamari, grilled seafood and freshly-caught fish.
