Frozen in time, it is known for its stores that carry Christmas items all year round and for its fabulous Christmas market in December.
Wander through the city gates and under the arches. Admire the semi-timber homes, get lost along the cobbled streets and secret passageways. You will feel as though you are in a movie set! Visit Plönlein Corner which offers a stunning medieval sight and is known as one of the most picture-perfect spots in Germany. You will see two towers, the Siebersturm, on the left, built in 1385, and to the right, the Kobolzeller Tor, constructed in 1360.
Visit the beautiful St. Jakobskirche, and admire the statue done by the famous sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider, from Würzburg. The brave can visit the Medieval Crime and Punishment Museum, which is full of examples of torture equipment and the not-so-brave can relax at a local café with a glass of cold beer.
If you have a head for heights, take a hot air balloon ride to see the city from a different angle. Do some unique shopping! Visit Chronos-Nostalgiebilder, dress up in a medieval costume, buy a funny souvenir and have your photo taken!
