On the way you will pass the little town of Thun. Stop and explore! It offers the fabulous Thun Castle built by the Dukes of Zähringen at the beginning of the 12th century. Climb the corner towers to see stunning views of the Alps, Thun Lake and the town. Do some shopping in Baelliz-Street and then continue your journey.
When you reach Gstaad, take the Glacier 3000 cable car to the top of the Les Diablerets glacier for spectacular views. It is a breathtaking 45 minute ride, 3000m into the clear blue sky. Get an adrenalin rush on the loop-the-loop Alpine Coaster and take a fun scenic husky ride. See the stunning Lauenensee, a crystalline Alpine lake, with views of the craggy Wildhorn mountain towering in the background.
Gstaad is famous for music festivals, Yehudi Menuhin began the first one in the 1950s when he invited friends to play in the small quaint cafés dotted around the town. Stroll down the main street and stop at Molkerei Gstaad for souvenirs. A cow bell to take the sounds of the Alpine cows home with you is a must.
Have a delicious late lunch at La Fromagerie where Swiss specialities are the order of the day. Then set off to Early Beck for a taste of some local pastries.
Head back to Berne for a luxurious night at the Bellevue Palace with views overlooking the Historic Old Town or the Alps, the choice is yours.
