Jean Cocteau visited Menton in 1955 and was so excited by what he found, that he called the city ‘The Pearl Of France’. He was made an honorary citizen in 1958. As Menton’s adopted artist and writer, this amazing Museum dedicated to him opened in a prime position on the quay in 2011.
