The chapel was built by order of captain Bartolomeo Colleoni who wanted a fitting home for his own tomb. He and his favourite daughter Medea, are buried there. Legend has it that he asked for his tomb to be positioned so it would be illuminated by the sun coming through the window. Admire this beautiful 'Jewel Box' with marble façades and decorations. Built in 1472-1476, this is a photographer’s delight. The frescoes and the dome depict the lives of St Mark, John the Baptist and Bartholomew.
